Neurodivergent Friendly! In this Valentine-themed Kitchen Chemists class, students dive into the exciting world of chemical reactions by making and testing fizzy baking-soda hearts. We start by mixing simple ingredients to form a soft baking soda dough, shape it into hearts, and then use droppers of colored vinegar to activate the bubbling reaction. As the hearts fizz and dissolve, learners observe how an acid (vinegar) reacts with a base (baking soda) to create carbon dioxide gas. We will also discuss how this relates to God's love for us! Along the way, students make predictions, compare reaction speeds, experiment with color mixing, and discuss what’s happening at the molecular level!
