Grammar, Writing & Reading Mastery: Comprehensive 4th–5th Grade Language Arts is an ongoing once-a-week class designed to help upper elementary students strengthen essential ELA skills in a consistent, engaging format. Each 45-minute lesson begins with a grammar mini-lesson and practice activity to build a strong foundation in sentence structure, punctuation, word usage, and editing. After grammar, the class rotates between reading comprehension and writing skills on alternating weeks. Grammar Warm-Up (every week): Sentence types, punctuation, parts of speech, clauses, and editing practice. Reading Weeks: Short fiction and nonfiction passages with strategies for comprehension, theme, inference, summarizing, vocabulary, and analysis. Writing Weeks: Creative, opinion, and informational writing, with lessons on paragraphs, dialogue, descriptive details, organization, and revision. Application Time: Students apply the skill of the week through a short response, mini-project, or discussion and share their work with peers. Because the class is ongoing and non-building, each lesson is stand-alone—making it easy for learners to join anytime without feeling behind. The rotating format ensures balance, variety, and ongoing exposure to all three key areas of language arts: grammar, writing, and reading.
