Welcome to World History! This is a fast-paced and fun exploration of world history from Mesopotamia all the way to the 20th century. We meet once per week for 35 weeks for in-class discussion and lecture, review quizzes on previous material, and short projects. This is an ongoing class so sign up for each week or as your schedule allows. **Classes with no enrollment will be cancelled 24 hours before the start time. If you are interested, please sign up in advance of that 24 hour cutoff. Students will receive handouts for each class to print and assist them in notetaking and mapwork during class time. Over the course of two semesters, students will journey through the ancient world, the great empires of Asia, Africa, and Europe, the Age of Exploration, the Renaissance and Reformation, the rise of democracy, and the sweeping changes of the 19th and 20th centuries. Weekly classes are structured to keep students engaged and on track. Each session includes a lesson with guided notetaking alongside discussion or project time. Throughout the year, we'll also watch carefully selected videos, listen to period-appropriate music, and examine the artwork of each era — bringing history to life beyond the textbook. Printable handouts make it easy for students to follow along and build a complete, lasting reference for the year. This class is ideal for middle and high school students looking for a thorough, lively survey of world history in a collaborative online setting.
